Bonjour!

In a moment of either clarity or insanity we travelled across the Atlantic from the west coast of Canada to rural France where we fell in love with and subsequently purchased this lovingly restored farmhouse, Les Madieres.
We get over once a year, which allows us to let it out for self-catering holidays for most of the year. Les Madieres is in a great spot 15 minutes from town set in a very quiet and tranquil location. The house is surrounded by fields and neighbouring cows. We have French neighbours about 100 yards away. There are no other accommodations on the 2 acre lot. The other building you see in photos is the barn.
There is so much to see and do in the region that after nearly a dozen visits we have still not come close to completing our wish list of activities, many of which we hope to visit a second time soon, such as Mont Sainte Michel. Others, like Festyland, we never fail to miss – 4 years running and it never gets old! Not to mention the D-Day beaches, Bayeux Tapestry, local weekly markets, Caen, the Zoo, castles, museums, Roman Ruins, churches, and on and on. And to top it off you can catch a direct train from Vire to Paris in under 3 hrs.
We have two boys so there are books, dvds toys, and games at the house along with some sports equiptment in the barn. The property is completely enclosed so kids can be safe to explore the nearly 2 acres of garden and orchard. There is a small pond where you may spot our resident frog and, more recently, a few fish (lord knows how they got there).
We do not charge extra for cleaning, linens or towels. We also provide some milk, fresh bread, tea and of course, wine for our guests arrival.
We don’t ask for a security deposit, we have found people generally taken very good care of the house while staying there. We have only been letting the house for just over 3 years so everything is fresh and new. We operate on an honor system and do ask that if you break anything that you take responsibility for it.
